I fancied some new office tops for spring summer so I chose the Itch to Stitch Arenal tshirt with the 3/4 sleeve version in a light colour. I added white stretch lace to the yoke, you can also use stretch wovens for this piece.
These trousers are bengaline but I wanted a non stretch woven pattern so the navy diamond print wouldn't stretch. I used a medium interfacing for the waistband, and a white invisible zip. It's an easy, nifty pattern with a fashionable cigarette style and hem slits. I first hemmed these 1cm according to the pattern piece but they were a little long so I turned up an extra 2cm which lost some of the vent effect.
Bellini pattern by Capital Chic (PDF £9.00). The casual blouse style is suitable for Hawaiian or summer prints and it's smart enough to want to wear. Iced Gems - The fabric is from a new duvet I purchased from George click and collect on my bike after work on Friday. It's polycotton so it's easy to iron in the mornings and doesn't crease easily. I can't eat iced gems anymore but I can wear them! Apparently they were made in the 1910's here in Reading, Berkshire by Huntley & Palmers. For me, they have a 1980's / 1990's nostalgia of childhood!
Botanic print cotton from a swap.
